HvH, or Hack versus Hack, is an unofficial format in which players use third-party software against one another. These servers operate separately from ordinary community play and may impose their own client requirements, permitted feature sets, authentication methods, and conduct rules. The current map and tags help distinguish different setups, while the player list, player count, and available slots show the state recorded during the latest monitoring check. Read the individual server description before using its IP address. One HvH server may permit functions that another prohibits, and administrators can still enforce their own security measures and bans. An HvH label does not override Steam rules or remove the risks associated with third-party programs. Do not install unknown software, disable operating-system protection, or provide account credentials simply to access a server.
